Fuel supply hose

On my 2001 XL1200S, I think my fuel supply hose is leaking just a little from where the petcock meets the hose that goes to the carb. It doesn't leak visibly, but it always smells pretty strong there during and after running the bike.

I cranked the worm drive down on it pretty hard to connect it to the petcock, but does anyone know if I have to change that worm drive each time I remove/install the tank (or disconnect at that location)?

Thanks!

Replacing it shouldn't be necessary but if you suspect an odor coming from that area, I would replace the hose and the clamp. Hoses get brittle after a while and don't seal well even with a tightened clamp.

You can distort the hose or even cut the hose by over tightening the hose clamp. If you use too large a clamp it doesn't spread the tension around the hose evenly, so use the proper size clamp.
