fuel gauge

My fuel gauge has always read full . No Matter how much gas is in the tank. I have taken the gauge out and it's getting power , it just wont read correctly.Any help I can get will be appreciated.

It may be getting power but is the potentiometer working correctly to register the correct resistance to operate the gauge?

Right. As Glider says, is the float or paddle jammed so it will not follow the level of the gas? If that is working, look at the sweeper on the reostat and see if it is working or broken off and stuck in the full position.

I don't know if that is working or not . Suppose to rain here tomorrow I'll check it all out Sunday. Thanks for the help.
