same problem with my fatboy its an 01 . pulled the float assembley out and found it wasnt making contact . messed around with it a bit and it works fine now . you will have to take thoe tank bolts off to undo the harness underneath for the gauge but then everything just pulls out with a little finess. hope this helps . If i remember correctly its was the pin that contacts the metal strip . the assembly pin was popped out a bit so I pushed it all back together and made sure there was contact . hope this helps
