    Odd fuel economy yesterday.

    2008 1200C, V&H slip on's , stage 1 breather and download.

Dont ride 2 up very often but yesterday we all took the girls with us. did a 227 mile day. Orlando to Flagler pier and a few places in between. Some highway, some country rodes and some city. Max speed 70 most 50-60 range and some slower. Wife doesnt add that much mass or weight. 5'4"x115 lbs. Anyhow filled up at 127 miles and only took on 2.25 gallons. THats 56mpg. You know I get about the same or less riding solo on strait highway at 60-65max. I cant figure why the increase in economy. I filled up with Shell 93 which is what I have been trying to stay with. Only thing I did different was add 2-3oz of MMO to the gas. Bike has 10k miles on it so doubt the injectors were dirty but added the MMO just the same. I also just completed the 10k service and inspected the plugs and they were clean. Fresh 20/50 synthetic and 20/50 in the trans/primary .

So with that I cant explain the increase in economy.

I live just north of Orlando, and I can tell you why. That trip to the Flagler pier is downhill from Orlando down to the coast. On the retrun trip you simply must have caught a strong tail wind. LOL

Seriously, I'm plum jelious, my 97 only gets 48 on the highway. Check it a second time being sure you've reset the trip-o-meter to zero and filled the tank properly, then if all is the same, then you can brag ..and make us cry.

In Venezuela the high octane gas is the most exspensive but under 10 cents a gallon we still don't check how many miles to the gallon , you all need to ride here!!!!

Trip meter is digital and there are 2, I always reset both.

Neighbors 07 nightrain got 46mpg. We filled up at same place before we started the trip and filled up at same place in daytona. He and his wife out weigh us by at least 100 lbs, more like 125. He got good mpg for his bike.

Performance improvements are exhaust, intake and MAP for Fuel injected engines. Then other items included use of quality synthetic oil, proper octane gas, tire pressure.

Fuel economy- the above can help plus refrain from trying to make as much noise as possible with the pipes, slow smooth acceleration and stay within speed limits.

This past weekend I took a small trip with some friends and was finally able to break 50mpg! Got 51.5 on my last tank. Trip was mostly on 2 lane highway and we kept the speed around 60 most of the time.
