And remove caliper, before removal of axle.....
 
Invest in the factory service manual. Best thing you can get for your bike if you are doing your own service.
 
Also take note of the position of any spacers and washers so that you get them back in the correct location
take note there is a wee tab on the speedo drive it fits into a wee slot on the brake rotor on reassembly

cleaning the axle and applying a thin coat of never sieze before installing will help make the removal easier next time. a great manual is the clymer manual. id be lost without it!
 
It's a good idea to put some support under the rear wheel when it's up on the lift. Removing the front wheel can get a little scary and become a bit unstable.
