Front Fork Tubes Fluid question

I have to replenish the fluid that goes into the front fork tubes. However, I dont know the amount and I dont know if more is required, because my front tubes are 2"s over stock and the tube sizes are 41mm. Also what type fluid and what is the required viscosity?

A chart I have shows Wet @ 7.75 oz.,Dry @ 8.50 oz.. That's for L77-96 FLs.
My 95-96 FL manual shows the same. With 2" over I wouldn't put more than an extra 1 oz.
You may want to add or subtract to get the feel you want. As far as weight Type E is 10W IIRC and Type B is 15W.. Heavier weight= stiffer ride.

measure what comes out and put that much back in

I agree here with the provision that you measure the air gap above the fluid level on both tubes and adjust the low one so it is within 1/8" of the higher one.

Button it up and ride it. If it feels too harsh or stiff, then remove 1/4" of fluid from both sides and see how that is. Repeat once if necessary. If still too stiff, then you will have to go with a lighter grade fluid.

Cheers,

TQ
