Front End Wobble - 2004 Ultra

I know this may be adding salt to the wound, but did you determine the date code of the failed tires or have their "remains"...may be too late and no big deal at this point.

NewHD,

The tires are still on my bike and the rear looks ok, except for it's flat and has a cut across the tread.

Rear date code = 1065 (106th week, 2005)
Front date code =2284 (228th week, 2004)

Both tires were bought and installed Feb or Mar 2010 (Devil Dawg Custom Cycles had my bike for a couple of weeks).

Type-o somewhere. Only 52 weeks in a year. Do those dates have an oval circle around them.
Those numbers can't be the date code.(how I understand date codes)

My mistake:

Rear is 3408:

Front is 5008:

How old of a date is acceptable for a new tire purchase?

34th week of 2008. According to Metzeler, if the tires are stored properly, they will be fine for years. The big key is are they being stored properly. I would guess not. Not many companies still wrap their tires in 'saran wrap" anymore. That means you must be careful where you store them.

Even buying them in early 2010, I would have wanted better dates.
