Front brake lever travel

Hi. New to board but not ridin....04 Road King Classic. Front brake lever travels nearly halfway before engaging brakes. Looking for any suggestions or similar experience on possible causes before starting. Anyone else have this problem? Appreciate any input.......

Try bleeding the brakes before doing anything else, it's a slow process and sometimes it is necessary to remove the brake caliper and position the bleeder at the 12 o'clock position to remove all air in extreme cases. Usually air will cause excessive travel in the handle. Worst case scenario, it may need a master cylinder rebuild.

I use a vacuum pump bleeder it's very easy to use and cuts bleeding time down to a 1/4. You just hook the hose on the bleeder zert pump up the vacuum and open the zert.

Was also told to check caliper pistons and MC piston. Will get er done this weekend. Thanks for the input.
