Folding footboards

I had a couple of heart in mouth moments today when I was cornering a bit enthusiastically and grounding the footboards on my '92 Fatboy hard enough to feel I was losing tyre grip, especially at the rear (which got a bit slidy). My Ducati 900SS has folding footpegs as did my Ducati 250 thirty years ago (which really needed folding pegs). I'm truly really trying not to ride the Fatboy like it was a Ducati, but the Fatboy does handle in its own special way and it is fun to hustle it through the twisties. Is it possible to get folding footboards for old Fatboys?

ps - I like the footboards, I wouldn't want to replace them with pegs

Go underneath the boards and just back off the mount bolt a tiny bit where the boards join on to the brackets. The boards will come up when they contact. The nuts on them are lock nuts so there's no problem here.
