Thought I'd add the hardware used to install the deflectors:
Chrome 1.1/2" X 5/16 button head. part number from HD..GW13286
Chrome washer. part number from HD..GW23570
19mm hard nylon roller purchased from local hardware salvage business cut to 1/2" length and drilled for 5/16" bolt
Remove the black tank tab cover
Remove the bolt
Slip the new bolt and washer through the nylon roller,Locktite and torque in place
Repeat on the opposite side
Snap the deflector shield in place and enjoy the ride

How much difference in the wind blast since installing deflectors?

The wind is deflected out past your legs instead of up directly at your head. Depending on the height of your windshield, I'd say it's a vast improvement. ( the taller the windshield the less wind turbulence with the deflectors installed)
