I have a friend with a 1997 road king his problem is he's having to add a quart of oil in between each 3000-mile oil change. also when riding with him i notice alittle smoke off his right side muffler when he downshifts. any ideas?
 
Maybe time to change the piston rings. Do a compression test dry, then redo with a teaspoon of oil. If the compression rises significantly most likely bad rings. How many miles are on the engine.

Lots of Shovels came from the factory with NO valve seals LOL:s
