engine sumping

Glad all is well. So now you get to pick an oil. Don't put a post up about which one is best.......:yeahright :)

1. So now you know that the oil tank can drain down into the engine.
2. If the oil isn't on the floor then it must still be in the bike....
3. Crank the engine a bit to get oil back in tank.
4. Start engine and warm to temp.
5. Check oil when warm.

Looks like 5 good steps to a happy bike.

Take care,
Dave

I would suggest a good Synthetic...

Mobil 1 for V twin is easily found and a good lube for the engine.(20/50)

Use Brand Names only and saying V-Twin is a good start.

Primary oil Like HD's formula + is a good Wet Clutch approved one...

BUT, PLEASE use a good Gear Oil in the tranny...

Many out there to use.

I Like all Redline Products:

I use Redline 20/50 for my engine.
MTL in the primary
ShockProof Heavy GEAR OIL in the tranny...

Yeah, good advice on the oils. I use Redline products as well in the transmission. Shockproof Heavy in my 5 speed and they have a "V Twin" Trans oil that I use in my 6 speed. They both are red. Not sure what the difference is. But I had read somewhere? that the V Twin trans oil was made for the 6 speeds.

Take care,
Dave

Same product... Just labeled different for selling to V-twin people...
Like MTL = same as their V-twin primary lube

No kidding....
Same oil huh.
Thanks for the info.

That's cool since I have a couple extra quarts of "Heavy".
The next oil change gets that.

Take care,
Dave
