Engine performance

Hi all, I just purchased a 2006 FLSTCI. My 1st big bike. Learned on 600cc and finally made the jump. My bike backfires somewhat when slowing to a stop. Less noticeable though after engine warms up. What kinda gas/octane should I be running in the bike.

Some realy smart people on this sight to help you with this..To do that they will need more info than this.

What mods are on your bike?Pipes,stage 1 air intake?Do you have a tuner?

It sounds like you have replacement slip ons on your bike. They will give you some decel pop and a high test gas (93 octane) should be used in these bikes but we need more info on the mods on your bike.

python slip ons are on the bike, but I bought it used from a dealer and I'm not sure as to what other engine mods were done. the engine is an 88 cu in but other than that I don't know much else.

The dealer may be able to fill you in on what else is on the bike if it was serviced there.
