engine light/rough running

My engine klight goes on and runns rough and the speed-o dorps to "0". Sputters and bucks. 2004 sportster 1200c. Any answers, ? Thanks, Al

If you look through the self help forum using the link at the bottom of this post you will find many topics that will answer many questions for you.

Meanwhile check this post and you probably didn't notice that your directionals don't self cancel either now.

Your problem is more than likely the VSS on the transmission.

Thannks!!!!!! I see "GLIDER" is the quick responder to alot of problems I appreciate your help and thank you!!!! Will let you know whne I do the codes. Got to get some ink for the printer so I do it step by step with the directions on hand at the bike. Thanks again..... AL

Will checked and rechecked all codes and finally understoof "NONE" to P/N# and cleared. Went back and checked battery cables and all was tight on TOP and the ground felt funny! Not solid.,,,,,,,,,,THARRR it was hanging by a stran or two down at the engine grounding bolt.........ZaaaZamm.
Thanks for all the help Glider you gave me more insight to my sporty and understanding it more in todays electronics. Pushed me alittle further to investigate. By the way I'm in North Canaan, CT. Safe riding ALL!!!!! Al

Those cables are the biggest source of problems. Glad you got a handle on it.
