Gentlemen, Consider your selfs lucky that you can at least "SHOP" Around. Here In Saskatchewan Canada we are Govt Insurance No options. No one seems to have actually mentioned how much they are paying for thier insurance. For My 09 classic its $95.00/ month, for that you get $700.00 Deductable for fire, theft, vandalism and collision.:(

OH yes I use State Farm and pay about 5? under 6 a year but carry big coverage and med..

Up Here in Wa. I don't need insc. on a bike ,,,so the state says Not required. I do not carry a policy on my 06 Sport but FULL on 09 RK.
I have had the similar problems with the others doubling WHY?
as I have no tics or accidents, on me.

They don't have road side or towing tho' ,,, I'm Insured in AZ.

Yes Siitman I was from Saskatchewan originally and remember those days. This is how much it is, how would you like to pay? Before I customized mine and spent a bunch of dough I had what we call PL PD (basically liability insur. if I do damage to someone elses stuff). That was very cheap about $250 a year but unless it was stolen or burned up you had no insurance other then for the other persons property. Was ok with me then as I can fix it if its broke /accident but once I had all the goodies and paint etc on it , I didn't want to tempt fate. :s

I will not snivel any more about my rates, you guys and gals in Canada really have it bad IMO, Florida requires no insurance on a Motorcycle, I dont get this, it is a motorized vehicle. I carry full coverage so I can ride with no lid and no worries if stolen or wrecked, we have to have minimum of 10k to ride with out a lid

Dairyland wanted to hike my insurance a bunch when I switched from a BMW to my RK. Said it was the cost of genuine MOCO parts. I said what could cost more than BMW parts!!? Anyway, she finally asked me if I owned my home. A yes to that knocked $75 bucks off. So, if you're a homeowner, let 'em know. Bill

Hi Jack, I am in the Chicago land area too. This year my insurance went up by $200 so I stopped in to my local dealer (Oak Lawn) and got a quote from them. It was HD insurance but through Dairyland Insurance, I saved $300. It's worth a shot.

Like Smitty said, a provider may be lower in one area and higher in another. After being with Progressive for several years they more than doubled my rates. I inquired with Geico and they were cheaper than Progressive had ever charged me. Progressive warned me that I'd be sorry because Geico was 'buying' the business and would hike my rates down the road. That was about 4 years ago and my rates really haven't changed. When I upgraded from an 01 Fatboy to an 09 Ultra Classic the rate didn't even change. I will also mention that my 2 autos are insured with a total different carrier, ...who won't even offer insurance for a motorcycle.

Shop around and forget about being loyal to a specific carrier. Best of luck!:57:

progressive wanted 2200 a year, went with Markel,for560 a year good people, They are all riders that work there,

Wouldn't buy progressive because of the CEO's Socialist politics. Kind of like buying foreign parts for your Harley.
