The following information is a guideline to what the Emissions Warranty will cover. (There is a difference the between 49 States and California coverage mandated by state laws) These guidelines cover mechanical/operational failures only (not cosmetic).

    49-States “What is Covered”
    Air cleaner and backplate
Air cleaner filter (only if due to malfunction of related system that affected the
    performance of this part)
Ignition system – coil, sensor, module, spark plugs (“out of box”), plug wires
    Carburetor
    Intake manifold and seals
    Fuel injection systems;
    o Cam position sensors
    o Cylinder head temperature sensor
    o Barometric sensor
    o Crank position sensor
    o Engine temperature sensor
    o Throttle position sensor
    o Intake air temperature sensor
o Wiring harness of EFI module
    o Induction Module *
    o Electronic Control Module (ECM)
o Idle Speed Control Actuator (ISC)
    o Engine coolant temperature sensor
    o Oxygen Sensor
    o Fuel Injectors
    o Voes Switch
    o Idle Air Controller (IAC)
    o Fuel module
    o Check valve
o Fuel Pump (for leaks and/or high and low pressure failures)

According to the post by Chopper there are two slightly different warranties, California and the other 49 states. Ct. is one of the 49 that he listed the warranty for. No need for him to list California because you don't live there.

It would go by what state the bike is lic. in now, I have never done warranty work in California but I'm sure Cal would require even more from the motor factory then the rest of the country. Best bet is to check with a (good) HD Dealer in your area. Whats wrong with your ECM? They very seldom go south.

Or West LOL! As Chopper said, what diagnostics were done to single out the ECM as they DO NOT go "bad" unless some unusual circumstance occured.

hey 74. as far as diagnostics, service gards the gates to fort knox, and generally avoid blow-back. don't have much leverage.would be nice to get that part through warranty. chopper, that's two less payments on the ride. heading to baltimore and hoping all runs well.
