Just notice the other day, while I was doing my 15K service that my Rear axle was installed backwards compared to how it was.
I bought a new set of tires a couple of months ago for my 2009 Softail Custom. The rear axle was put in from the factory from the right to the left. Now it's the other way. My service manual illustrates the same thing... from right to left.
I get it, it would be easier to remove the axle from the left. You wouldn't have to remove the muffler to pull the axle from the right.
I keep thinking the MoCo had a reason for doing it the way they did.
Can anyone think of a reason to put it back the way it was? Is there any possibility of damage if I leave it the way it is?
Thank You in advance for your replies!
Cheers!
