Disarming Alarm

I want to disconnect the battery in order to move my turn indicators further back (fitting panniers).

How do I remove the -ve terminal without my alarm deafening me please?

My bike is a 2007 FXDC but a European (UK) model.

Turn on the ignition switch, then remove the maxi fuse.
