Difference between left and right mufflers

Just had the factory mufflers off my 08 Road King and noticed, one seems to have a screen at the front-perhaps a catalyst, and the other does not have that screen. Is that normal or did something get left out of one muffler?

The left muffler is mostly a sound enhancement "can" and there isn't a lot of exhaust that flows out of it. Mostly all the exhaust goes out the right muffler for better exhaust scavenging which makes the engine run more efficiently.

The left and right mufflers on the 08 I have were totally different on the inside, the right muffler basicly had a set of tubes in there that overlapped each other at the middle and were flattened almost in half with the openings on aposeing sides. The left muffler just had a baffle in it at the exit with the inner end crimped closed. If you go to the americancustom.com website and look at there baffle selections you'll see long ones and short ones,the long ones were in the right pipe the short ones were in the left pipe. :newsmile082:whew that was a mouthful.
