Diagnostic Trouble Codes

By using the self help section I have learned to check for trouble codes on my odometer.My question is...when will a code display itself?Will it appear on the odometer as I'm riding or will it appear the next time I start the engine?I'm just curious as my codes as of now all display "none".

As you go through the stages (sections) in the odometer it will show you the codes (if any) in that section, then you advance to the next section and you have the option to clear them by holding in the button.

Thanks glider,I understand that but will a code display itself or should I make a habit of periodically checking for them?

You'll usually get a light after start up for a few seconds to signal there is a code present or you can just check them periodically.
