Deuce won't idle

When I was at our dealers open house last week end just as I was leaving a guy rode in on a 07 deuce , he kept rolling the throttle and after he shut it down he told me he had just filled up with ethanol . He said at idle it would die but if he kept rolling the throttle in would keep running . I looked at him and said these bikes don't like ethanol , I told him to put some octane booster in it , was this the right suggestion ? I wanted to tell him to drain it when he got home but figured if he wasn't smart enough not to put ethanol in it he probably wouldn't know how to drain the gas .
 
To be honest, I haven't seen any running problems with the ethanol to date. You may not get the MPG or the performance that you would get with non ethanol fuel but never seen an engine that wouldn't run on it. More than likely he had other problems like a clogged IAC orifice.
