De-coding tire codes

I am trying to determine what the "B" in my rear tize size indicates, 150/80B-16. Reason for asking is I am looking at another tire (for longer mileage life) than the tradition Dunlop D401's I have always ran. Some other brands callout only 150/80-16, no "B". What's the difference?

I am fairly sure the B denotes bias tyre construction and I think both tyres should be of the same construction type otherwise you may run into handling issues

The 'B' stands for Belted. If you go to Biker's Choice catalog page 484 it gives a good explanation. I didn't see the Weight Rating section though. You may be able to find that in Drag Specialties book. Weight Rating is also very important.
