compass sensor location

just bought an 'obsolete' compass at local tent sale. it is placed in ambient temp gauge location. used this same compass on street glide in '07, and sensor was placed in saddle bags. checked w/ local mechanics and parts guys, but no one knows for sure. looking for advice. guess they became obsolete w/ gps, which i have, but only use for road trips; prefer compass for days out exploring. thanks in advance.

May I suggest placing the sensor in an out of the way place in the trike trunk not the tour-pac. If placed in the fairing with the stereo it may experience interference.
