Cleaning off burnt oil

Hey guys,
After running a couple of months with a primary/tranny oil leak on the left side of my FLHTC, I have lottsa burnt oil over the lowere exhaust pipe and front and bottom of my muffler. This stuff is really burnt on! As I am now fixing the leaking seals, I want to clean-up the residue...Any good and safe chemicals available. Chrome cleaner doesn't touch it.
Thanks....Pete

I have used WD40 in the past when rebuilding motors to clean off baked on debris. You could try that to see if it will remove your baked on oil.

Hello again Jack....the oven cleaner sounds good as I suspect it won't harm chrome...although I have heard it can be a disaster on aluminum cases...Pete
PS Jack... as you might suspect, both my inquiries relate to the same problem...worn-out tranny pully and a "walking" inner mainshaft brg race messed up the seals which then leaked oil all over.
