Carb question.

I bought a 1983 flt 1340. The guy I bought it from told me he had a sidewinder kit in it. How many ci" would it be now? The reason I'm asking is it has an Su carb on it and I want to buy the right S&S carb for it.

Welcome to the forum. Your engine could be anywhere between 88-103 cu in, depending on which kit was used. 88/96/98/103 Inch Sidewinder Kit

OOPs, I just noticed yours is a '83, the link I posted is for Evolution motor kits. You can search S&S for Shovel kits.

The 1340 is 80 ci I believe and with the sidewinder kit it probably is 88 ci"?

It's not a HD carb it's an SU carb. I think they use them mainly on European cars. I've seen a few of them on Harleys but I'm not familiar with them.

I got in now. The 1983 FLT is 80 ci stock and the sidewinder kit adds 13 so it's about 93 now which a S&S super E should work.
