carb problem

i've got a 96 Heritage EVO, with a carb problem. It's cutting out on take off and sometimes at about 40 mph but runs and sounds fine at highway speeds, but does not do it all the time, only sometimes. i took the top of the carb off and the seal looks fine, i drained the bottom of the carb to make sure there was not trash in there, but that didn't seem to fix it. Any suggestions ?

Are you sure it's carb problems and not ignition. The pickup in the evo nose cone had problems in the wiring harness after time.

What's been done to the carb as far as jetting or changes?

it just started about a month ago, and yes it's just like a hiccup. Seems like once i build up some rpm's, everything in fine.

May need a rejetting. See what size the jets are in there and if the low is a 42, increase it to a #45 or #46

2 new HD plugs and HD ignition wires are cheap. It may not solve the problem , but will eliminate those 2 .
