Buying First HD!

Brand new to the family but have ridden.....years ago. 54 years old and can finally afford/justify the purchase. The problem is which one? I am pretty convinced I want the ECG but am a bit confused on which year is best. Saw a great 05 today for right at $12K but is the 88 CI enough? Are later years better? Is there a "best" year for the ECG?

Your experienced opinions are coveted.
