Broken Header Bolt

ust finished replacing all new head gaskets and everything went smooth on a buddy of mine's '98 sportey screamin eagle. Turned the engine over once we got finished and she cranked right up. Had a little knocking but went away but noticed that the rear exhaust was spitting. Saw that the top nut was loose and went to tighten and next thing you know, the header bolts just snaps. Any ideas on the easiest vs best ways to fix. Thanks.

How much of the broken stud is left? If there is enough to get a double nut on spray the stud with a penetrant and wait for a couple of hrs and than double nut it and remove it. Your HD dealer should have a replacement stud.

It is actually about 1 to 2 centimeters inside the head. I may have to drill and tap and rethread it. Just wanting to know what everyone else thought about it. Thanks for the reply.

Awesome thanks. Its a '98 Sportster Screaming Eagle 1200. Would you know what size the Header bolt is? or what size of bolt extractor I would need? Thanks.
