brake light problem

08 Street Glide. When the rear brake is applied the brake light comes on but does not immediately go off when the brake is released, it takes a few seconds. When this happens, it also makes the check engine light come on. The brake light works fine off the front brake.

This all happens when bike is at rest? Strange. What error does it post. You can clear error and it will re-post same error when brake light hangs.

Possibly a defective brake light switch. Follow the brake line from the rear master cylinder and in the line you will find the pressure switch that operates the brake light from the foot brake.

What code? They were first on the 08 bikes I believe.

It does not throw a code. It just makes the check engine light come on.

Usually with the light on a code will be present, have you tried to locate a code?
