Blueing of pipes

Hello ALL,

Is it true that blueing of the pipes means it is improperly tuned? I have a 2006 FHLT with Fuel PAk, K&N Air filter and Rush 2.25 slip ons. They recently over the late summer seemed to blue more. I should of listened to the knowledge here and got a TFI tuner. I am stuck with the fuel pak that only has presets. Thanks for more wisdom.

The pipes will blue over time on most any bike. Improper mixtures (lean) will make it happen even faster.

Yeah it seemed to do it in a month. I will have to mess with the fuel pak settings.

Heat shields will cover this, tho all pipes will discolor some, Double wall heavy chromed pipes hold up better. Once the color change starts it pretty much stays there. Gold or Wheat coloring should be checked for leaks and lean conditions
