bleeding brakes

Some of us are too lazy to read and you know how hard it is to "click" buttons on the keyboard!!! Some of us are still having trouble logging on. I wonder what "they" did in the old days. hahhahahahaha

No worries guys...the tabs near the top of the webpage are really handy...and even us old timers who do not waggle their index finger on the mouse very well can use them...really a lot of good stuff in there and as Glider says, if you get stuck, hit the blue back arrow button to back up to the previous screen. Its' okay, you won't break anything and get the famed MICROSOFT Blue Screen of Death like in the old days, although program lockups and periodic resets are still with us...and we still have to go to the start button to shutdown...geeze!!!

You should change the brake fluid every couple of years. Brake fluid is hydroscopic which means that it absorbs water. The water will contaminate the brake fluid and cause internal damage and corrosion in the master cylinder and calipers. In DOT 5 brake fluid the water will settle to the lowest point and DOt 3 the water will mix with brake fluid. You should even have your cars brake fluid changed. Also the more water in the brake fluid the lower the boiling point of the brake fluid. When brake fluid boils your brakes will get mussy and you lose braking efficiency

Maybe its a case of semantics..."bleeding" the brakes means removing air from the system.....changing/replacing the brake fluid is another 'animal' entirely...good luck, what ever you are attempting to do...:cheers :rider
