I read an article on the Harley drive belt and I have tried to find it, but I have been unsuccesful. It was a few years back and the jest of it was that while heat does make things expand, because of the belts construction it does not expand at the same rate as the metal parts it is connected to. So as stated above the belt actually does get tighter as you ride.
