Bad Regulator Anyone???

    I just got my bike back after experiencing some electrical problems. I had a HD tach installed at my 1000 mile service appointment, and shortly after I got the bike back my check engine light and battery indicator came on. I could not keep the battery charged, and the bike was running terrible. I had to have the bike transported back to the dealership. The bike was running great before the tach install so I assumed that something must have went wrong with the install. As it turns out according to the dealership the regulator was bad. Has anyone had a bad regulator on a bike this new? Do you think this is common? Am I being too suspicious to think that the regulator went bad because of something the dealership did at the install of the tach? What can cause a regulator to go bad in the first place? Hope I don't have this problem again. Give me your input... --Buck

    They are electronic, up front right behind the front wheel out there in harms way. They can go any time. I have lost a few on my bikes.
