Zippers have their issues too...snaps are simple and if necessary, easily replaced with the proper tools and snap hardware. Common problem is sometimes manufacturer uses a bit too much force or improperly center it over the form/mandril, distorting one of the mating ends. Keep it simple and be patient, if you decide to use the tools and new hardware, practice on scrap pieces of leather or similar heavy fabric as it is one of those things you learn through doing. Having done tonneau covers and furniture covers you will get the hang of it.
