Altenator rotor noise

I had a similar problem back when HD did a stator under warranty.. It seems the spacers were installed wrong.... I was getting the kind of FEEL things were amuck. Not really noise but a feeling... So I tore into the primary, taking the cover off everything seemed tight , then checking with a straight edge, eye-ball could also see a problem, misalignment of the double chain..

The HD repair man had placed a thick washer on the wrong side of the comp. and alignment was way off on the chain.... that would of done a lot more damage over time.. Glad that some time FEELINGS are a goood clue....

I think he meant that the whole mag-rotor would move... not just the magnets.

Since we are talking EVO's here. I have a 1988 FLHS and today picked up a whirring noise on the primary side. The speed of the bike has more influence on the sound than the throttle. I am adapt enough to open the primary up but can use some advice on where to look. Fossil
