96 custom fatboy speedo..

Hello everyone. I recently purchased a 1996 fatboy custom build. However; the speedo is junk and I need to replace it. Any ideas how I can tell which ratio it is? It is axle drive not tranny, with a 21" front wheel. Thanks

Being it was custom built I would disconnect the cable at the speedometer end and use a piece of masking tape to make a tab around the cable end. Rotate the front wheel one full turn and see how far the cable turns. it could be 2-1 or 1-1 depending on what was used.

I was thinking along those lines as well. But it was my understanding the options were 1:1, 2:1, and 2240:60. In the last case, I could be spinning that wheel for quite a while. Please correct me if im wrong though. Thanks for the help.

well figure if its not one to one and 2 turns dont do it .. id try the 3rd before turning wheel that many times
