93 Electra Glide speedometer stoped working

Hello.

I have a 93 electra glide with 65,000 miles and the speedometer just stopped working. The pressure gauge, the battery gauge and the gas gauge still work though. Dose anyone know if this is a cable problem or something more serious.

Yes you have a front wheel drive speedo cable. Cable P/N is 67060-87A, and the drive unit P/N is 67073-87A. The cable will unscrew from the drive unit and the speedo unit.

Usually the "squared off" end of the cable that goes into the drive unit at the front wheel sheers off. Hopefully all you will need is a new cable.

I don't know if they still do, but the Auto Parts stores used to sell "universal" inner speedo cables. You just inserted them and cut to the length you need. I broke 2 HD brand cables in my Dyna, then put the universal inner in. It's been almost 20 yrs. and still going. Cost is 1/4 of a HD cable, which is probably hard to get in 2017.

I have had the speedo cable on a few of my bikes snap as TQ said close to the drive unit on the front wheel
