89 Evo FLHTCU and oil change

So after some extensive reading I was wandering if that year of motor can take the synthetic oils like M1 20-50W or should I stick with regular?

Also I want to change the other fluids as well and found that I to sometimes have trouble finding neutral when the motor is warm, is there a suggested oil for the trans for that year as well?

Any help appreciated

I have a '92 Evo that I have changed back and forth a couple of times between syn. and dino. 60 + k miles and still all original bearings except lifters.
I have used Bell Ray, Mobil 1 and Amsoil gear lube 75w90 and 75w140. They all seemed to work good with just the usual Harley clunks.
I use whatever quality dino oil I have on the shelf in the primary, 30w, 10w30 or 20w50. Difficulty finding neutral may be a clutch adjustment issue.

Check the self help section for clutch adjustment and do it on a cold bike:s
