This is a one of a kind Rear Brake Assembly.

1. Pads are worn and must be changed
2. I have pulled the old pads off the bike.

Question:
Is there a workable technique to replace pads without removing the
rear tire and axle?

I have read all the posts regarding the cleaning and servicing.

I am attaching a picture of this particular rear brake system
along with an exploded parts list of the brake components.

Thanks Jerry

Jerry,

I can not do it on either of my bikes - '91 Dyna and '03 UC. Not tough to drop the wheel though. And that will give you a chance to repack the bearings.

Take the wheel off and do the bearings. If you ever went through the pain of the bearings freezing to the axel you'd check them daily. Don't ask why I know.
