I would stay with the 20/50 synthetic myself.

Thats what Ithought Iam useing Lucas 20/50 syn. The reason Iasked is Iam getting oil misting from the air cleaner Ithought heavy oil might stop it. Has anyone used reed valve thing that S&S cycle says will stop the misting ?

Try a bit less next oil change and see how it does, My Streetbob likes to run a bit less than what the manual says remember there is always some oil left in the case and oil galleries when you do an oil change:s

If it's got a lot of miles on it I would put 60wt in it with the heat of Texas. And the heavy tranny grease, syn in both.

According to Redline's website they sell a synthetic 20w-60 if you're concerned with running in the higher Texas temps.

If you go that route, then oil flow on cold starts would be solved.
