My son wants to buy a 2008 Softail, there are a lot of them for sale here in Texas. I vaguely remember something about a heat problem in the 2008 that the HD factory finally admitted and maybe even recalled some engines; is there any fact there or just my old brain getting fuzzy?

Thats a tough one for all 2008 are hot. If concern about recall take VIN to dealer and have them run to see if any recalls are open for that VIN,

I have 28,000 miles on 2008 softail without issue, most of my riding is in Texas.

You can also run your VIN at the MOCO website for recalls:D

Thanks Jack, that is a good thing if we have the VIN in hand. A lot of sellers don't post the VIN but we could ask of those which we like the low milage and price. I was just hoping for a lazy/easy answer; like stay away form 08's or plan on adding a Race tuner.

I appreciate the advice and we will use it for any bike we get ready to buy.

That's what I always say too.:D Lots of chrome!

Chrome don't get you home but it shure looks good on the side of the road.
