2008 fatboy starting problem

Are you handy with tools. Would taking a starter apart be something you would rather not do yourself?

Tools arent a problem Ive been a marine engineer since 1978. The point is that it was under warranty and I didnt want to touch anything in case the dealer starting blaming me. Anyway a new dealer under instruction from HDUK will have it from Monday so Im hoping everything will be resolved soon

10/4. I figured you had it up to "here" with the lip service and was ready to roll up your sleeves. Good Luck with the new dealership/ hope it works out.

Can you believe the way they treated him, and they are still in business?:s

Well its been 2 full weeks since my big fall out with the dealer and handed over responsibility to HDUK and guess what - nothing ! Bike is still at original dealers waiting transportation by HDUK to another dealer.
This is way beyond any kind of joke. Original dealer has said no-go for compo because he 'tried' to fix the problem but couldn't, and HDUK dont seem much better.
Anybody have names, addresses for HD HQ in USA ??

Long before this point i would have informed the dealer and hduk that you were going to hand the matter over to your lawyer
and as well as compensation for loss of riding time you would also be billing them for the time you had spent chasing them up at the rate that your employer charges for your time
that has worked for me in the past the unobtainable rep managed to track me down prior to my appointment with my lawyer
the other thing Ive done is told them I'm taking to someone that is competent to do the repair but the bill will go to them
both occasions got good results this was not hd dealers but cars did on one other occasion have a lawyer send a letter to a dealer that reminded them of the terms of the contract and days left till completion and that lit a fire under them and they ended up being 10 hours late

Thanks Brian. I had contempleted getting a motorcycle electrical specialist to inspect the bike and this seems the best option. I will also make an appointment with a solicitor.
I am really surprised that the customer service is this bad - it is really the worst I have ever experienced.

Hi Glider
Would appreciate your input as you seem to know what your talking about. My FLSTF is still with the HD dealer. They now say they have discovered that the start relay; power and earth connections were connected back to front. To me this doesnt make any difference as a 12vdc circuit doesnt really care what is voltage and what is earth so long as a circuit is made - right ?? So they have re-wired the start relay and system relay !! Then today I saw a thread on another HD forum with a guy who has exactly my problem with his 2007 ultra (clicking relay - but no engine cranking), turns out it is a low battery in his keyless fob !! After 9 months in the shop can this be my problem as well ?? Sounds too simple to be true. Do you know how to check the Fob battery ??
HDUK have offered me a £150 HD voucher for my inconvenience - thats approx $0.75c per day - hows that for generosity !!

Now that's extreme sensationalism I must say.:p

There is no point in checking the FOB battery with a meter. Just go to any corner drug store and get a fresh one for $3. You can check it but it really does not pay.

I think the fob battery is a cr2032 thats the same as a computer cmos battery so you should get it in any computer shop
