2007 FLSTC Heritage Softail Classic

Hey there folks.
I'm brand new to this group but when I saw the thread on the 07 FLSTC I couldn't help but jump right in.
My username refers to seemingly endless rain that falls in my area. If you ride here...you ride wet. We do have our nice days though. If I recall, they're in August.
Bought my 07 FLSTC last Sunday in Jake and Elwood Blue Sunglow. Dang good lookin color scheme. (my opinion)
I am having the V&A Bigshots installed with the stage one and S-E race tuner. I also bought the lowering kit for the rear so my short legs could reach some pavement every once in a while.
I traded in my 06 sporty 1200low. That bike would have gotten me killed if I would have kept it. Darn Sportys just want to go fast ALL of the time.
They tell me I can pick it up in ten days. tick, tick, tick. Talk about impatience.
"nuf blabbin for now. Keep those post rollin on this bike. I can use all the info I can get with the new toy.

Jake & Elwood Blue....... Sounds Nice, like a custom color you could fall in love with.

I should know....'cause thats exactly what color Mine Is. Great Choice.

As to your comment about the Sporty wanting to go fast all the time, well I traded in my 1200 Custom with Stage I and custom exhaust for this Heritage. It was fast, at least I thought so until I rode this one with the 96 peaked and tuned. Dude you aint going to believe how fast this bike is:D . The only difference is that your going to be going faster than you realise quicker than you thought. I look down all the time and say "wow I didn't know I was going THAT Fast".

And you talk about lay you back in the seat tourx.... , just wait until you get it broken in and roll on that throttle!!! Seriously, there is more power there than you will probably ever need and with the new Transmission, the gearing has been redone so that shifts are faster, smoother and closer together.

An example: I made a turn onto a short flat stretch in 1st gear. No one around so romph it. Hit 2nd about 30 and rolled open the throttle. Was at 70 (in 2nd) and hadn't hit the rev limiter yet, banged 3rd and was at 90 in a blink of an eye with the motor just starting to run. Stretch was ending with traffic heading toward me so I eased into 4th, 5th and 6th.

NOTE: I am not a promoting speeding nor suggesting that you should ride like this all the time, but like all of us I wanted to "try her out". Ride at your own level of Skill and Desire.;)

When crusing and needing to pass a car, just roll on the throttle. 60 to 80 with no problem in you choice of gears 4th, 5th,or 6th. The only difference is the amount of seconds it will take to get there.

Enjoy your new Ride, and tell us how you like it.

Jake & Elwood Blue. Was the dealer just blowing smoke or were there really only 1000 of these color schemes put out there? I haven't found any website to confirm or deny that.
The salesman knew he had the hook in my lip and was already bringing me up to the boat before he mentioned it.
I'm sure he's off to Hawaii by now. Maybe he'll send me some macadamia nuts for paying for his trip there.
I test rode the 07 classic stock and although it was a smooth ride, it hardly had as much "off the line" speed that my sporty had.
Hd-4, Your narrative on the "short flat stretch" had me going. I was on the edge of my seat with a big stupid grin on my face as I read. My wife came around the corner and thought I was lookin at porn. Gaaaawwwwd! I can't wait to ride that thing.

I do not know the actual #, but there are only so many of the Custom Colors built each year. There are three for this year: Jake & Elwood Blue (Oct to Dec), Burgandy and Gold Pearl (Jan to Mar), and Dark & Light Green Envy (April to May).

I do know that each Dealer only receives one color of any given model. The only other two models that I have seen in this area is 1 Softail Deluxe and 1 Dyna Glide. The Road King version (which I have also seen) is a different design using the same colors.

The darker blue, to my eyes, changes color in the sun depending on the direction you look at it from. Hues from Purple to Black to various shades of Blue. The HD Emblem on the tank is done with Gold Leaf, if you didn't know.

I've aready had several comments on the Bike's Colors.

Your going to love it.

I really like the look of that bike. It looks so classic and yet so sleek. I think it would be a great buy for anyone. I wonder how it handles though. Knowing Harley it has to handle good but I'd still love to go rent one and take it on a road test drive just to check it out for myself.

Just came back from Georgia to Bronx and back on my 06 softail. Real cool . Going again in Jan 2007 any takers? know a lot of clubs between here and there. As long as you can maintain and have the time ,lets rock.

Vance & Hines new for 07 Big Shots Staggered pipes installed.

I am trying to figure out what exhaust system I want to go with when I decide to replace my stock system. I had Vance and Hines before and liked the fit and finish.

I was wondering if you or anyone else had any pictures of these on your 07 FLSTC.

Also have you experienced any problems with throwing computer codes or the fit of the O2sensors (such as tight wires or wires close to the heat of the exhaust)?

Chris

The pipes are designed with the o2 sensors located where they would be on the stock pipes, so no problem there.

I had the Race Tuner Package installed with the pipes, so have had no problems with the ECU.

You can go to Vance&Himes.com and look at their Picture Gallery taken at several events where Pipes were installed. There you will be able to see different pipes they offer on differnt models, which should give you an idea of what they will look like on your bike. There is a photo of an Heritage with Big Shots Staggered in the Daytona Bike Week collection of 2006 (I think that is the right one).

Over 2000 Miles on and Loving It. The Bike is continuing to perform flawless and the ride is Sweet. Longest continual ride to date was just over 250 miles.

Ride Safe & be Happy.

H-D 4 Life,
It looks great on the FLSTC thanks for the information.

2 more questions if you would be so kind.

When looking at the picture I think I am observing some differences in the looping and thickness or height of the exhaust when compared to the stock exhaust.

1. Does the exhaust cause any problems with the mounting of harley passenger floorboards?

2. Will the exhaust increase normal maintenance costs because the pipes have to be removed where the stock pipes allowed for enough clearance.

Regards,

Chris

Chris,

1. I'm not sure, as I do not have them installed, but I do not see where they would be a problem. I believe that I have seen on other bikes before. Perhaps someone else could say for sure.

2. Not sure what you mean by this. The only thing you will notice is that you can not see the trans cover that says 6-Speed on the 07's, and clutch adjustment is made from other end, so unless you are going into the tranny for something (and if you are, then removing the pipes is Not your biggest worry) this is a non issue. My wife's bike has the stock pipes on it still and I just went and looked to be sure of this. I see no added problems with this.
If anything it has made it much easier to polish and clean the oil tank. Also keeps the pipe behind the cover (on stock) from showing (reflecting) on the oil tank.

Whatever you decide, make sure its the pipes and look that YOU want, not what someone else tells you to get. Hope your happy with whatever way you chose to go.
