2001 883 Tach .. Help

I bought a Harley Davidson Chrome Tachometer And Mounting Bracket
I got it mounted and working but it is way off. When I take off and get to 40 mph it shows 4,000 rpm in 4th gear. At 45 in 5th gear it shows 3500 rpm.. That has got to be way wrong .. Is there any thing I can do ??

Welcome to The Forum, do you have a part number? Looks like you are lugging your bike in 5th gear

Is a 3 wire Harley tach. Red , Black , And Yellow wires. Hooked red to Light power, Black to Ground, And yellow to neg side of Coil.

Just put in 5th to see what rpm were.. I never go to 5th unless I am at 55 or higher normaly..
