Battery problem solved thanks to Hoople.
Now fuel problem
Not getting any gas to carb.
Should gas run out of fuel tank when pit cock open, when fuel line is disconnected. Can spray gas in carb. throat, only runs for a second.

No, fuel is not supposed to flow if you simply disconnect the fuel line from the petcock and turn the fuel on. The petcock is vacuum operated and in order for fuel to flow you have to attach a vacuum to it. Look behind the petcock and you should see a small hose attached which is the vaccum line. Inspect this line for damage.

If you want to check the petcock to see if it is flowing properly then attach a piece of fuel hose from the petcock to a fuel can. Next attach a mityvac or other shop vacuum to the nipple. Turn the petcock on and start pumping the vacuum. Fuel should then flow into the gas can.

Next check your lines and make sure nothing is blocked or damaged.

Dswartz has you covered here..

I use a elbow straw to check vacuum and don't use much suction as you can destroy the valve..
