2 maintenance questions

Bud I noticed you said you check to see if it is getting oil soaked, on the o-rings the manual says to put a film of oil on them before you reinstall but it didn't say that for the derby cover gasket is that because there is no twisting motion on the gasket when tightening? Is it suppossed to go on dry?

Absolutely. In fact, clean both surfaces so that they are as oil free and clean as you can get them. Then install the derby cover with the gasket between. If it is a quad seal, there is a "front" and "back" to the gasket printed on it. Make sure that is right.

As previous posters have mentioned, when you are given a broad torque range, it is good practice to split the difference.

Depending on the torque wrench, there will always be variations in calibration so going with the middle value is your safest bet.
