While riding down the road today, I upshifted and heard loud grinding with no gear engagement. I pulled over and now the bike will not go into any gear. All I hear is grinding. Did I just destroy my tranny?
You say "won't go in any gear". Could it be going in gears, but the primary (front) sprocket is stripped? The sprocket cover is easy to get off to check.
I have the manual and will check out whatever I can with any and all help.
I tried putting it in gear both running and not running. When running, all I get is grinding and it will not shift into any gear. When not running, it will not shift either.
Check and lubricate the shift linkages from the shifter lever to the trans. When they bind the trans will not shift because they hang up. They are subject to water and road grime being they are exposed in the area that they reside.
