1989 ultra clutch adjustment

I have a ton of money into getting my clutch adjusted on my 1989 ultra and it still lets out at the end of the lever travel. My mechanic says it is because it is a 1989 clutch and that they all let out at the end. Clutch is in good shape and cable is new.He said they changed them in 1990 and that the 89" had a lot of complaints about how they didnt let out til the end of the lever travel.

Is this true?
