07 fxst - electrical start up

i haven't touched the bike since the fall 2009, so i know the battery was shot. i bought a new battery and installed it. my lights and whole electronic system was functioning but i couldn't even get the bike to crank. i figured its the start relay. tomorrow im going to pick one up and try that. but does anyone have any ideas that i can troubleshoot? i doubt the starter went bad, it was kept indoors, climate control. it is EFI, so must be the relay.

It may be security related since it sat so long with a dead battery.

Do you have a key fob? That battery could be dead as well.

The relay can be tested before you go buy a new one.

Try searching here for "security" & "relay" related issues if you want to eliminate some of the preliminary stuff. Otherwise plenty of good eggs here that will get you headed in the right direction.

If the flashers start blinking when you hit the crank button, it's a Security issue like BigAl said.
