Smart Security System Set-up and Sidecar Siren Information
Activating/Deactivating the Smart Security System
Option 1:
The security system does not need to be activated at set up in order to perform
the PDI. If the motorcycle is not going to be delivered right away, it can be
activated at a later date. This will prevent any accidental alarm activation and
unnecessary battery drain.
Option 2:
If you wish to set up the security system at PDI or the customer wants to
deactivate the security system you can follow these steps:
• Assign a PIN number
• Assign the fobs
• Verify the security system operates properly
• Use Digital Technician to place the security system in service mode
• Remove the batteries from the fobs
After this is done you will only have to reinstall the batteries in the fobs and cycle
the ignition switch to activate the security system.
NOTE: There have been some calls around the fobs not deactivating the security
system. If you experience this issue it would be recommended to check the
antenna connections and the antenna itself. You may follow Test 3.21c in the
Electrical Diagnostic Manual to check the antenna and wiring. Also refer to the
Troubleshooting page in the Electrical Diagnostic Manual for other possibilities.
Remember that the PIN number will deactivate the security system if the
fob will not. It is very important that the customer has the PIN number for
these types of situations.
2007 Sidecar Equipped Motorcycles
When installing a sidecar onto a 2007 motorcycle and the customer also wants a
siren, you will need to use siren part # 68958-00. The reason for this is when you
install the BAS for the sidecar it causes a delay in getting the signal to the Smart
Siren 2 and the siren will sound when you turn the ignition on. Using the siren
listed above will correct this issue.
NOTE: Use of the earlier siren will not allow the user to toggle from “chirp” to
“chirpless”. Whenever the system is armed, the user will receive a feedback
“chirp”.
